August has been a busy month so far. Melinda and I left on August 6th for my sisters wedding. Two days before that Jaime and Nicole had a baby girl Isabel and Jaime has jumped right into the dad role. We had to leave to get up to Seattle for my sisters wedding though so I didn’t get to see her til I got back. Continue Reading »

Anyone close to me knows I’m more twisted then a pretzle but there is a sappy side to me also. I saw this video a while back and just loved it. The band Sick Puppy that does the music for is is not bad either. Watch the Video and then read why the guy started the Freehugscampain.org (linked to the myspace site cause the .org is not working right)
Juan Mann – talks about Free Hugs.
– On Its Origins – I’d been living in London when my world turned upside down and I’d had to come home. By the time my plane landed back in Sydney, all I had left was a carry on bag full of clothes and a world of troubles. No one to welcome me back, no place to call home. I was a tourist in my hometown.
Standing there in the arrivals terminal, watching other passengers meeting their waiting friends and family, with open arms and smiling faces, hugging and laughing together, I wanted someone out there to be waiting for me. To be happy to see me. To smile at me. To hug me.
So I got some cardboard and a marker and made a sign. I found the busiest pedestrian intersection in the city and held that sign aloft, with the words “Free Hugs” on both sides.
And for 15 minutes, people just stared right through me. The first person who stopped, tapped me on the shoulder and told me how her dog had just died that morning. How that morning had been the one year anniversary of her only daughter dying in a car accident. How what she needed now, when she felt most alone in the world, was a hug. I got down on one knee, we put our arms around each other and when we parted, she was smiling.
Everyone has problems and for sure mine haven’t compared. But to see someone who was once frowning, smile even for a moment, is worth it every time. Continue Reading »

So the wife is out with the girls tonight so I figured I’d sit down with a nice glass of port and update my blog a little since, keeping with the trend, it’s been a while. Speaking of Port though that reminds me of our day of drinking at the 30th Annual Playboy Jazz Festival. The Wife, our friends Cyndi and Jeff and of course myself packed up picnic baskets full of lunch for the day and went for the first time. Continue Reading »

So we were looking for something to do this weekend besides cook at the ren fair again so we stumbled across a great event called the LA cupcake challenge. The point was to pick from 10 bakers that specialize in cupcakes for best of origanals, unique, and best overal. So of course Dilwicius Desserts
had to make an appearance to check out the competion. Next year Melinda wlll win the thing!
Our Friends Jeff and Cyndi, who are also cupcake connoisseurs came with us to enjoy the mini cupcake extravaganza and wine that was also served. So, we headed to some obscure place on Hollywood Blvd. and were a bit unsure of what to expect. Turns out the cupcake buzz spread far and wide! Eyewitness News was there and several other photographers , who appeared to be on assignment for local papers or magazines.
The 10 bakeries participating had their tables set up, and all attendees got to walk around at their leisure and eat as many cupcakes at they wanted! The flavors for the “traditional” contest were Red Velvet, Chocolate, and Vanilla. Then there was a “best original” competition, and those flavored ranged from Blood Orange Chocolate, to paradise, to other creations with popular flavors including peanut butter, lemon, strawberry, and much more! Choosing a favorite for each category was very difficult, as well as picking just ONE, as the Best over-all!
The idea of endless cupcakes at our fingertips was a sweet one to begin with, but after eating several our bellies ached with what felt like sacks of sugar sitting in them. Accompanied by the sweet wines they also offered, no doubt filled our stomaches with too much simple syrup. But it was well worth it! If there’s any coma we could willingly slip into, it would be a cupcake coma!
All in all, it was quite an experience, and a fun and tasty way to spend the hot So. Cal afternoon.

Melinda and I recently went to the Ren Fair for the first time in a very long time but even more importantly we went in costume. After years and years of dressing funny I love a chance to dress up. Melinda was a traditional wench and I must say a very hot one. I went for the Sottish look since any day I can run around in a short skirt and have women think its sexy is a good day. We went with a bunch of our newer friends most of which don’t have kids so we have a lot in common. We had a blast with our new group consisting of Cyndi & Jeff, Bryan and Yvonne, Starky(other jeff) and Cathy, the other brian since all of our new friends can’t have different names. Thanks to Brian and Yvonne we have a great little mash up video from the Ren Fair. Enjoy and Hazaa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahXZtXxXjtg

Well Melinda and I just got back from Vegas and as usual had a great time and some cool things happened. First we got there late in the evening since we drove out after work so I tried a trick. It happens almost everytime that they tell us that our exact room isn’t available because its so late so this time I got them to upgrade us to a penthouse suite on the top floor (36) of the Bellagio. Our room was almost as big as my house and definitely nicer! Continue Reading »

It’s been so long since I’ve written so I’m officially bad at blogging but I promise I’ll get better. This year is flying by and we are a quarter way through the year already. I feel like it going to fast I can’t keep ahead of it. I know I have more free time then I did this time last year but it doesn’t feel like it. So that is why I haven’t blogged, uploaded pictures, or been in touch with the rest of the world. Not a big fan of the rest of the world anyway so any excuse to avoid it is fine by me. Some of the things I’ve wanted to post about that will be upcoming are some music reviews, some bad news that has changed my Career, and some general stuff going on in life. Stay tuned…

It’s turkey day so I thought I would take a minute to say what I’m thankful for! The thing I’m thankful for most just as I am everyday is to have Melinda as my best friend and the fact that we still haven’t killed each other going on 7 years now. I can’t imagine life with out her so I am thankful for everyday I get with her. After a very very long (or at least it felt that way) stay in our Irvine store I am so very thankful to be back working with associates and customers that still have a grip on reality and to actually enjoy going to work again. In addition to that I get to ride the Vespa which make me even more happy and thankful. I am also thankful for family! I am not the most family oriented person and don’t call as often as I should but with only 5 family members left on my side counting nephews, sisters, aunts, and uncles they are important. There will always be family on Melinda’s side cause they are huge, but at some point mine won’t and so I am thankful for the ones I still have and thankful for the time we had with the ones no longer with us. There are a million other things to be thankful for we all need to think of those things everyday instead of once and year. It will help you to enjoy your life so much more. Everyone have a great day and eat lots and lots of yummy food and enjoy the day with family
